How to Set Soft Yet Strong Intentions for the New Year
Every year, I used to create a long list of goals.
Lose the weight. Wake up earlier. Start the business. Stop overthinking.
The list felt powerful in the moment—but by February, it felt like a weight on my chest.
I wasn’t failing. I was just tired.
Tired of the pressure. Tired of chasing. Tired of trying to “fix” myself with force.
So I started doing something different:
Setting intentions—not just goals.
Intentions that feel soft, soul-led, and rooted in how I want to feel, not just what I want to achieve.
And that changed everything.
Why Intentions Work Better Than Resolutions
Resolutions say: “I’m not enough yet. I need to do more, be more.”
Intentions say: “I’m already enough—and I’m growing at my pace.”
Intentions allow room for grace, growth, and real change.
They don’t demand perfection. They invite presence.
How to Set Soft But Strong Intentions for the New Year
1. Start With Feeling, Not Performance
Ask yourself:
How do I want to feel in 2026?
What would peace, joy, or ease look like for me this year?
Let your emotions lead—your actions will follow.
2. Choose Themes, Not Just Tasks
Instead of “go to the gym 5x a week,” try:
“I move my body with love.”
Instead of “make 6 figures,” try:“I create from overflow, not burnout.”
Themes allow your intentions to evolve with you.
3. Make It Visual, Make It Sacred
Create a vision board. Light a candle. Speak your intentions aloud.
Turn the process into a moment that feels personal—not pressured.
The EmpowerHer Mindset Workbook includes space to reflect on past lessons and set aligned intentions for the year ahead—softly, honestly, and without the hustle.
4. Check In Monthly, Not Just Yearly
Give yourself permission to shift. Intentions aren’t contracts—they’re guides.
Set a reminder to revisit them each month. Let them breathe with you.
Pause + Reflect:
What’s one word or feeling you want to anchor your year in?
Write it at the top of your planner. Create a lock screen. Whisper it to yourself in the morning.
You don’t need to rush into a “new you.”
Just return to who you are—with more love, more softness, and more intention.
